KEPSA participated in the initial meeting on enhancing value chains organized by the State Department for Trade on 13th April 2023 at the Kenya Institute of Business Training.
The two-day workshop aimed at aligning the needs of private sector players with the government priorities in promoting and growing value chains, emphasizing improving capacities for export performance through value addition, product development, and market development. The current focus is on nine key value chains (rice, cotton, tea, coffee, dairy, edible oils, meat, leather, and construction materials)
The Principal Secretary, Mr. Alfred Kombudo, noted that the priority value chains were the low-hanging fruits and there was work needed to be done in developing the packaging sector, enhancing the value additions mechanisms, creating better aggregation models and ultimately enhancing market developments for the final products from the value chains. Further, the PS committed to engaging the Private Sector sustainably to improve Kenya's export performance.
