KEPSA, led by the CEO Ms Carole Kariuki, joined other global leaders at the Global Africa Business Initiative’s (GABI) Unstoppable Africa event that kicked off on Thursday, 21st September 2023 on the sideline of the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York City. The two-day event brought together Heads of State and Government, CEOs, UN leaders, investors and entrepreneurs for a deep dive into energy access and transition, inclusive growth and trade, and digital transformation.
GABI is the premier private sector-led global platform that galvanizes African and global leaders from various sectors to amplify and accelerate Africa’s unstoppable business, trade, and investment opportunities, for Africa and the world. GABI is built upon three pillars – to convene, showcase, and promote collaboration among global stakeholders to accelerate sustainable and inclusive business opportunities in and for Africa.
“Unleashing African potential is the greatest opportunity of our age and it starts with delivering justice for Africa. Justice means reforming our outdated unfair and dysfunctional global financial system and ensuring African representation at every multilateral table,” said António Guterres - Secretary-General of the United Nations.
While addressing the forum on Embracing Shared Futures, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat - Chairperson, the African Union Commission noted that “Africa cannot win alone, not in a world as interconnected as ours. She will certainly win more by first relying on her own strengths, but never against others or without others.” He added that an unstoppable Africa was vital for a changed global future.
Other notable speakers at the event included H.E. Dr. William Ruto - President of Kenya; The Honourable Mia Mottley - Prime Minister of Barbados; Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala - Director-General, World Trade Organization; Wamkele Mene - Secretary General, African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA) Secretariat; Dr. Akinwumi A.
