The Tunisia-Kenya Business Forum was held on 16th November 2023 in Nairobi, where the opportunity to leverage each country’s unique strengths, fostering economic diversification and enabling knowledge exchange to drive innovation and sustainable development in key sectors like technology, trade, tourism, and agriculture was deliberated. KEPSA was represented by the Vice Chair of the Economic Diplomacy Sector Board Ms Angela Ng’ang’a.
In her remarks, Ms Angela gave perspective on how to invest in Kenya from a private sector angle, where there are a number of advantages including but not limited to an enabling economic policy framework, supporting legal environment, strategic geographical position and access to market, a well-established private sector and entrepreneurial tradition, well-educated human resources and established physical infrastructure.
The Tunisian delegation comprised of 20 companies from the housing, construction materials, agriculture (tea, coffee, avocado), consultancy service in IT, manufacturing, energy and green economy sectors. The delegation was led by the Charge d'affaires of the Tunisia Embassy in Nairobi Mr Soufienne Dridi and the Deputy CEO of the Tunisian Export Promotion Centre Mr Riadh Attia.
Mr. Soufienne noted that from the business forum, a strategy to discover and in- Tunisian presence can emerge. He confirmed that the Embassy is available to coordinate and assist Kenya and Tunisia in their networking process.
On his part, Mr Attia reflected on the commitment between Kenya and Tunisia, stating that Tunisia is the second exporter of organic and automotive parts in Africa. “Kenya is a crossroad for Africa and the Middle East while Tunisia is a gateway. We should continue to create a strong platform between both countries to amplify cooperation and complementarity,” he concluded.
Also present during the event was Hon. Basil Criticos - the Chairman Kentrade, Ms Sally Mahihu - Chairperson Keinvest among other business leaders.
The Business Forum continued into pre-organized B2B meetings between Tunisia and Kenya companies.
