My name is Boru Huka, and I am the founder of Vast Brand Ltd, a stitching and branding business located in the heart of Nairobi’s Industrial Area. At Vast Brand, we specialize in designing and producing high-quality garments, including overalls, dustcoats, backpacks, aprons, school uniforms, and t-shirts. My passion for creativity and the desire to bring unique designs to life have driven me to build a business that combines innovation with quality craftsmanship.

One of my proudest achievements is recently becoming the first Kenyan and African entrepreneur to receive ISO Certification (ISO-C1) for local manufacturing protective overalls tailored specifically for farmers. This certification is not just a recognition of quality but also a gateway to scaling my business to serve Kenya’s 8 million registered farmers and over 12,000 agrovets. Orders for these overalls have already started coming in this year, and I am excited about the opportunities ahead.

Despite the progress, the journey has not been easy. Managing a growing business requires more than just technical skills; it demands a balance between personal life and professional responsibilities. This is one of the key lessons I learned from the Jiinue Growth Program, where the “Wheel of Life” exercise helped me realize that maintaining a balanced personal life is critical to achieving success in business. By addressing areas such as time management and personal well-being, I am now better equipped to handle the demands of my growing enterprise.

The training has also opened my eyes to the importance of structured planning and strategic thinking. With this knowledge, I am better positioned to scale my business and maximize the opportunities presented by the ISO certification. However, to meet the growing demand for protective overalls and expand our capacity, I will need additional funding. Support from the Jiinue Growth Program would be a game-changer, enabling me to purchase advanced equipment, hire more staff, and streamline production to meet the needs of farmers across the country.

My vision for Vast Brand Ltd is to become a leader in the garment manufacturing and branding industry, known not only for quality but also for empowering farmers and businesses through innovative solutions. The Jiinue Growth Program has given me the confidence and tools to move closer to this goal, and I am excited about the future of my business.
