KEPSA, led by the CEO Ms Carole Kariuki and the Chair Mr Jas Bedi and many corporate leaders of local and British companies with interests in the United Kingdom and Kenya on 31st October 2023 joined other dignitaries at a state banquet that was hosted by H.E President Dr. William Ruto and the First Lady H.E Rachel Ruto in honour of His Majesty King Charles III and Queen Camilla on their four-day tour to Kenya.
The visit aimed to escalate Kenya’s relations with the UK to boost trade and investments. The strategic areas Kenya and the UK are keen on working together to broaden their cooperation include defence and security, education, environmental conservation and climate change.
President Ruto said that the visit by the Royal Family is a showcase of the immense accomplishments achieved by Kenya and the United Kingdom during six decades of strong, dynamic and fruitful bilateral relations. “I trust that this visit, focused on community, sustainability and innovation will inspire stronger Kenya-United Kingdom relations and bolster the Commonwealth and its stated purpose of building a development-focused global community of nations.” Remarked President Ruto.
The Royal Family, in a statement, noted that the visit is nostalgic and seeks to celebrate the warm relationship between the two countries. “By addressing our history with honesty and openness we can, perhaps, demonstrate the strength of our friendship today. And, in so doing, we can, I hope, continue to build an ever-closer bond for the years ahead,” said The King.
Other leaders present included top government officials, politicians and development corporations among others.
