KEPSA CEO Ms. Carole Kariuki met with H.E. Patricio Aguirre, Ambassador of Chile to Kenya on 11^th February 2025. The meeting focused on strengthening economic collaboration between Kenya and Chile, particularly in preparation for the upcoming visit of Ms. Claudia Sanhueza, Chilean Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, to Kenya on February 26, 2025, and the first meeting of the Kenya-Chile Joint Committee on Trade and Investment.

The discussions emphasized the importance of deepening bilateral trade and investment relations through structured engagements. During her visit, the Vice Minister will engage with KEPSA members to provide insights into Chile’s economic transformation, particularly the economic turnaround of Chile in the 1980s, and share lessons that could be relevant to Kenya’s economic landscape. The visit will also serve as an opportunity for the Vice Minister and the Chilean government officials to gain a deeper understanding of Kenya’s economy and its investment opportunities.

In preparation for the Joint Committee on Trade and Investment, both sides discussed key focus areas, priority sectors, and expected outcomes to ensure a structured framework for future engagements. KEPSA committed to working closely with the Chilean Embassy and relevant government agencies to facilitate meaningful discussions on trade policies, investment opportunities, and potential areas of collaboration.

The engagement concluded with a shared commitment to enhancing economic cooperation between Kenya and Chile, fostering mutually beneficial partnerships, and creating platforms for knowledge exchange, policy dialogue, and increased trade and investment opportunities.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Gonzalo Guaiquil, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Chile in Kenya and Ms. Stacey Mwende, Marketing and Membership Officer.
