On 26th April 2022, KEPSA SME Club held a meeting with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Deloitte officials at the KEPSA offices. The meeting was aimed at looking at ways of developing a start-up ecosystem in Kenya that will support startups through funding linkages and technical assistance targeting those with high potential for growth.
Present at the meeting was Ms. Mary Ngechu – KEPSA SME Club Chair together with Ms. Catherine Ndungu – KEPSA SME Club Capacity Building Subcommittee Chair and Mr. Harrison Ngatia – KEPSA Head of Projects. The visiting team was led by Mr. Masafumi Yatabe – Deloitte Senior Vice President, Infrastructure & Capital Projects who was accompanied by Ms. Tajime Marie – JICA Project Formulation Advisor-Private Sector Development; Ms. Misako Uehara, Long-term Expert – Ecosystem Building/Partnership and Coordination and Ms. Satoko Shibata, Senior Analyst – Infrastructure & Capital Projects.
It was agreed a working group will be set up which will include all startup players in both Government and private sector to not only ensure a harmonized voice but also develop an action plan to support a startup ecosystem whose implementation will be supported by different stakeholders.
