On 12th September 2023, the KEPSA Security Sector Board met with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Department of Intelligence Strategic Operations, Investigations and Enforcement at KRA offices. The meeting aimed at establishing potential areas of partnership and formulating a framework of collaboration between the department and the sector board.
In his remarks, Mr. Mohamed M'maka - Chief Manager of Intelligence Exchange and Stakeholder Management, acknowledged the importance of partnership and stakeholder engagement while appreciating the valuable information received from stakeholders, which he said has helped the Authority to identify and resolve issues.
On her part, Ms. Annette Kimitei – KEPSA Security Sector Board Chair, appreciated the existing collaboration between KRA and KEPSA. She noted the need for continued collaboration to adequately address some issues including the counterfeit products in the market, an issue that she said is hurting businesses to the point of closure.
Mr. Isaac Yugi - Chair of the Anticounterfeit Subcommittee under the KEPSA Security Sector Board, noted that there is a link between issues faced by members in the industry that are affecting business. He noted that continuous failure to address these issues has led to other challenges such as tax evasion, among other things.
