On 7th September 2023, the KEPSA Security Sector board, led by the chairperson, Ms. Annette Kimitei, met with the Anti-counterfeit Authority (ACA) to discuss areas of partnership in the fight against counterfeiting in the private sector. Also in the meeting from KEPSA were Mr. Isaac Oyugi, Ms. Brenda Mwita and Mr. Bryan Ndichu.
Building up from the last meeting on August 22nd, 2023, Mr. Yusuf Osman, Director of Enforcement, ACA, appreciated the steps taken to ensure both entities work seamlessly by creating clear objectives and developing a matrix by coming up with activities that can be measured over time.
In her remarks, Ms. Kimitei noted that the conversation around the existence of counterfeit security apparatus has been long overdue and that the meeting between KEPSA and ACA is timely. She also noted that moving forward, it will be essential to share information by mapping out the various stakeholders in the private sector as well as continuous partnership with the Authority by inviting them for a webinar session where they will come and give insights to KEPSA members on the mandate of the Authority among other things.
In conclusion, the meeting agreed to have continuous engagements at least every quarter to measure progress and map out activities with clear objectives.
