Today, on 10th September 2024, KEPSA launched the Kisumu training under the Jiinue Growth Program at Jumuia Hotel, drawing 70 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) for the Investor Readiness training workshop. The entrepreneurs were actively engaged in a highly interactive session on how to access funding and grow their businesses. Mr. Harrison Ngatia, KEPSA Chief SME & Enterprise Development Officer, during his remarks in today’s sessions (SME and micro businesses trainings) emphasized the critical importance of financial responsibility. He stressed that securing funding is just the beginning, businesses must also commit to fulfilling their repayment obligations to maintain integrity and to secure future opportunities.
Among the day’s activities included a visit to the ACK Shaurimoyo Church, where an insightful workshop for micro enterprises under the Jiinue Growth Program (JGP) was ongoing. In attendance were 45 participants (micro business owners), including five young mothers who had carried their children. The training was facilitated by Jiinue Enterprise trainer Vitalis Otieno, who delivered life skills training, covered on day one and expected to cover basic business skills on day two, showcasing the program’s holistic approach to capacity building.
Later in the afternoon, the KEPSA team attended another Jiinue Growth Program micro businesses training session at Selella Resort, facilitated by Lilian Nyaidho. The training which was in its second day focused on basic business skills where 40 women in the water vending business from four Kisumu sub-counties—West, East, Central, and Nyando were in attendance.
Our recent training sessions across Kisumu highlight the program’s dedicated efforts to equip SMEs and micro entrepreneurs countrywide with essential skills for business growth. During this month of September, KEPSA will be launching similar training activities in Siaya, Uasin Gishu, and Trans Nzoia, with continuing training activities in Nairobi.
