KEPSA held an engagement with Partnering for Green Growth and Global Goals (P4G) on 20th March 2024, to review recent developments within the P4G initiative, discuss outcomes of the recently closed P4G Call for Partnerships on March 8th, 2024, and share insights on ongoing projects and areas of further collaboration.
Partnering for Green Growth and Global Goals (P4G) is a global initiative spanning 12 countries, including Kenya, dedicated to advancing innovative market-based solutions for climate change and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In Kenya, P4G is chaired by the National Treasury and Economic Planning in collaboration with the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA).
To date, P4G has facilitated over 24 projects, with one notable initiative managed by KEPSA called Partnership for New Plastics Economy. This partnership, implemented between 2018 and 2021, trialed a circular economy model at the community level. The Kenya national platform is actively advocating for the institutionalization of P4G to ensure sustained support and planning.
Moving forward, the focus is on finalizing partnerships from the first phase (2018-2022) and commencing negotiations with awarded partners for the second phase (2023-2027). In the second phase, P4G's main focus will be on scaling up SMEs in the Early Growth stage of operations within the sectors of Agriculture, Water, and Energy.
In attendance, we had Mr. Paul Mbole, Kenya P4G National Platform Liaison; Ms. Rose Mwaura, KEPSA Chief Operating Officer; Dr. Jackson Koimbori, KEPSA Senior Circular Economy & Climate Change Coordinator and the current P4G Communications Focal Point; Mr. Levi Injendi, KEPSA SME Trade and Investment officer and Ms. Patience Karanja KEPSA, Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Sector Coordinator.
