On 21st February 2023, KEPSA Foundation Executive Director, Ms Gloria Ndekei, and the KEPSA Gender Sector Board Chair, Ms Mucha Mlingo together with other stakeholders participated in the Pre-CSW67 National Stakeholders consultative meeting. This was in preparation for the Sixty-Seventh Session on the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 67) that will be held at the United Nations Head Quarters, New York from 6th to 17th March 2023 under the priority theme ‘Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls’, and review theme of CSW 62 ‘Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls’.
The State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action Principal Secretary, Ms Veronicah Nduva presided over the meeting on behalf of the Cabinet Secretary, Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action, Hon Aisha Jumwa. The other delegates included; the UNFPA Country Director, Mr Anders Thomsen, a Representative of the UN Women Country Director, and a host of County Women Members of Parliament among other dignitaries. The forum focused on sharing the Country's position paper, presenting Kenya-led side events, disseminating the pre-CSW67 Africa common position, and briefing on Kenya’s participation in the CSW.
Speakers at the event sought to consolidate the various multidimensional efforts that the Kenya Government and its stakeholders will showcase at the CSW 67 as efforts in the contribution of milestones of gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls in the Country.
