KEPSA is set to spearhead a business delegation to Tunisia in June 2025. This mission aims to open new trade and investment opportunities for Kenyan businesses while providing KEPSA members with direct access to the Tunisian and North African markets. This initiative is a result of an engagement between Ms Carole Kariuki, KEPSA CEO and H.E. Anouar Ben Youssef, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia when he paid a courtesy call on 2nd April 2025.
The visit to Tunisia will also enhance Kenya’s visibility as a key player in the regional market and strengthen its positioning in global trade. By participating in this delegation, KEPSA members will gain insights into Tunisia’s economic landscape and learn about the most lucrative opportunities in sectors like manufacturing, technology, agriculture, health, and others.
Other key resolutions made during the meeting, which will directly benefit KEPSA members and expand trade opportunities include:
Virtual B2B Meeting with Coffee Stakeholders
KEPSA will facilitate a virtual Business-to-Business (B2B) meeting between Kenyan and Tunisian coffee stakeholders. This initiative is designed to explore collaborative efforts to expand the market for Kenyan coffee in Tunisia and North Africa. By connecting local coffee farmers and exporters with Tunisian importers and distributors, KEPSA members will benefit from new market channels, increased exports, and stronger trade relationships. This virtual meeting will also provide a platform for knowledge exchange regarding coffee production, marketing, and distribution strategies, empowering Kenyan coffee producers to scale their businesses.
Promotion of Tunisian Products in Kenya
KEPSA will leverage its membership base to identify potential distributors for Tunisian-made products, including high-demand goods such as olive oil. This initiative will open new avenues for Kenyan businesses to partner with Tunisian exporters, facilitating the entry of quality Tunisian products into the Kenyan market. For KEPSA members, this is an opportunity to diversify their product offerings, explore new business lines, and enhance the competitiveness of local enterprises in the food and agriculture sectors. Tunisian products such as olive oil, known for their high quality, will also add value to the Kenyan retail sector and benefit consumers with premium product options.
Renewal of MoU with the Tunisian Union for Industry, Commerce, and Handicrafts (UTICA)
KEPSA will renew its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tunisian Union for Industry, Commerce, and Handicrafts (UTICA), which was initially signed in March 2019 in Kenya. This renewal underscores KEPSA’s ongoing commitment to fostering strong business relations between Kenya and Tunisia. The MoU provides a platform for continued collaboration between both organizations and will enhance KEPSA members' access to valuable resources, business networks, and market opportunities in Tunisia. By leveraging this renewed partnership, KEPSA members will be able to explore new avenues for growth in the Tunisian market, benefit from shared expertise, and take advantage of joint initiatives that promote trade, investment, and economic development.
These resolutions underscore KEPSA’s commitment to enhancing global trade partnerships that offer substantial growth prospects for Kenyan businesses. The successful execution of these initiatives would provide significant benefits, including expanded market access, new business opportunities, increased investment and enhanced capacity for KEPSA members.
The meeting was an important step toward strengthening the bilateral trade and investment relations between Kenya and Tunisia. It was also attended by Mr Walid Ben Moussa from the Tunisia Export Office in Nairobi and Mr Timothy Odongo, KEPSA’s Manager in charge of Marketing, Membership, and Partnerships.
