On 20^th April 2023, KEPSA and the Kenya Institute of Supply Management (KISM) held a meeting to discuss ways in which they could collaborate to promote the growth and development of the business environment.

The meeting began with a brief introduction of the attendees and an overview of the objectives of the meeting.  The presentation by KEPSA identified some of the opportunities for collaboration in the different sectors while KISM’s analysis emphasized the need for greater collaboration between the private and public sectors to address the challenges and to take advantage of the opportunities for growth.

During the meeting, both parties discussed the benefits of such a partnership, including increased visibility for KISM and enhanced participation in KEPSA events and other initiatives that could benefit their respective members. KISM also expressed interest in joining a number of KEPSA sector boards; primarily the Education sector board, and in supporting its events.

Some of the specific issues discussed included:

1. Supporting and advertising KISM’s training programs to improve the skills of supply chain management professionals at discounted rates (For KEPSA Members).
2. Collaboration in advocating for policies and regulations that support the growth of the sector.
3. Collaborating on research.
4. Discuss KISM being a beneficiary of GIZ funding in the next education sector board meeting.
5. Onboard the CEO (Serah Okumu) and Chairman (John Karani) onto the Voice WhatsApp group and the Mailing list.
6. KISM sponsoring some of the KEPSA events e.g. The upcoming AGM.
7. Promoting events and conferences to promote awareness of the sector and to bring together stakeholders from across the industry.

The meeting ended with a commitment from both KEPSA and KISM to continue working together to promote growth and development.
