The Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) has been invited by the Council of Governors (COG) to serve on the Steering Committee responsible for organizing the 2025 Devolution Conference. Scheduled to take place in Homa Bay County on 12th – 15th August 2025, the conference theme will focus on equity, inclusion and social justice. The inaugural steering committee meeting was held on 4th February 2025 at the COG offices and chaired by COG Vice Chairman H.E. Mutahi Kahiga, Governor of Nyeri County.
During the meeting, it was resolved that the Devolution Conference presents a valuable opportunity to highlight investment prospects across counties to both local and international investors. Additionally, the conference will serve as a platform for stakeholders to assess the achievements and challenges of devolution over the past 12 years. The discussions will be anchored on Article 174 of the Constitution of Kenya and will incorporate private sector perspectives while prioritizing youth engagement to ensure the core theme of equity, inclusion, and social justice is effectively upheld.
The meeting approved the colour scheme for key conference preparation materials, including the conference branding materials. Additionally, the meeting endorsed technology advancement proposals, such as the development of a dedicated website and a conference-specific application. Furthermore, the meeting discussed the potential adjustment of registration fees for participants to ensure diverse participation from the target audience.
The Steering Committee was mandated with resource mobilization and overseeing the Technical Committee’s operations. Besides KEPSA, the Steering committee comprises of the Senate represented by Hon. Catherine Mumma, the State Department for Devolution represented by the Permanent Secretary Ms Teresia Mbaika, the County Assemblies Forum, the Youth Council of Kenya and the Council of Governors.
