The KEPSA CEO Ms Carole Kariuki, was part of the delegation to Germany led by the Head of State H.E Dr William Ruto. She was one of the key leads in the business forum between the two countries and met with some of the key businesses that have invested in Kenya on their expansion plans as well as new investors. The forum was organized by SAFRI the Sub-Saharan Africa Initiative that established the Kenya-German Business Association, which serves as a networking and collaboration platform for German and Kenyan businesses. In 2017, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on enhancing mutual business relations was signed between KEPSA and the German-African Business Association.
While in Germany, President William Ruto invited German businessmen to invest in Kenya more and increase the number from the current about 100 companies. He said Kenya stands to benefit from the world’s most experienced, organised and resourced German establishments.
After meeting his German counterpart H.E Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President Ruto later graced the Germany-Kenya Business Forum that was attended by top government officials from the two nations and businesses from Kenya and Germany including Diaspora Kenyans doing business in Germany. He not only spoke at the forum but took time to do a Q &A with the participants. H.E. Amb Tom Amolo encouraged the investors to spend more time with both the KEPSA CEO and the KNCCI Chairman who was also in the forum to get all the guidance they need to invest and trade with Kenya.
Ms Kariuki in meeting with German investors interested in investing in Kenya said that the visit has provided an excellent opportunity for businesses to explore new opportunities, strike new business deals, learn from German businesses and expand development cooperation. She also said that Kenya is one of the most appealing investment destinations in Africa with a stable political and macroeconomic environment and GDP growth that has remained resilient despite global headwinds including Covid-19.
On 28th March 2023, the President will proceed to Brussels where he will hold talks with the Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander De Croo, Valdis Dombrovskis – the European Commissioner for Trade and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. The visit is expected to discuss on the finalization of the EU - EPA and reinforce Kenya’s commitment to the Kenya – EU Strategic Dialogue under the three key pillars of Peace, Security and Stability; Sustainable and Inclusive Development; and Economy, Trade and Investment.
