KEPSA ICT & SECURITY SECTOR BOARDS MEETING WITH DATA PROTECTION COMMISSIONER

KEPSA ICT & Security sector boards met with Data Protection Commissioner Immaculate Kassait, on 27th October 2023, to discuss the implementation of the Data Protection Act. KEPSA ICT sector board was represented by the Chair, Mr Ben Roberts and the Security sector board was represented by the chair, Ms. Annette Kimitei. Issues that emerged from the meeting included; the registration of foreign companies as data controllers and cross-border digital trade pacts.
It was agreed that there is a need for the Office of Data Protection and KEPSA to work together on capacity building to implement Data Protection and Impact assessments in Private sector companies, as well as the need for advocacy to embed data privacy and protection culture into all areas of businesses and government.
