On June 6, 2024, the KEPSA Foundation, led by Executive Director Ms. Gloria Ndekei, held a meeting in collaboration with the Chandaria Foundation and the Global Peace Foundation. The meeting aimed to discuss the logistics of the upcoming Global Peace Leadership Conference (GPLC Africa 2024), scheduled for June 25th-27th in Nairobi. The Global Peace Foundation was represented by its Executive Director, Mr. Daniel Juma, while Dr. Josephine Ojiambo represented the Chandaria Foundation.
Mr. Juma emphasized that the conference will focus on the theme of the African Renaissance and will convene delegates from across Africa and around the world to discuss strategies for promoting peace, development, and cooperation. The conference will feature plenary discussions on various topics including transforming education, community-driven peacebuilding, environmental conservation, African Renaissance, youth leadership development, family dynamics, and religious freedom.
He also noted that the Head of State will inaugurate the conference and deliver a keynote address on June 26, 2024, at the Radisson Blu, where 650 guests are invited for the ceremony. The conference will host 2,000 delegates, including over 1,000 students, who will participate in a tree-planting initiative at Konza Technopolis on June 25, 2024. This initiative aligns with the government’s goal of planting 15 billion trees by 2032. Mr. Juma highlighted that the conference is organized in partnership with the Chandaria Foundation, the Inter-Religious Council of Kenya, Konza Technopolis, and other collaborative networks.
Ms. Ndekei remarked that the Family Policy, prepared in 2013 and launched in 2024, will be a crucial document for analyzing the challenges faced by families and for addressing the need to strengthen family units. She emphasized the importance of partnerships dedicated to conducting family audits to uphold family values.
Dr. Josephine Ojiambo noted that the Chandaria Foundation aims to plant 1 billion trees by 2032. The re-greening of Konza is intended to enhance environmental conservation and reduce the carbon footprint of Africa’s future digital hub. She mentioned that the trees would contribute to creating a natural botanical garden, which could support the extraction of medicinal products, thus becoming a valuable investment for the country.
The Meeting was also attended by Rev. Canon Dr. Rosemary Mbogo, Chair Global Peace Foundation Leadership Conference, Mr. Mike Mutungi, Chief Executive Officer, I Choose Life-Africa and other members of the private sector.
