On 17th May 2024, KEPSA, through its social arm, KEPSA Foundation donated 100 bales of assorted food stuff to Ghetto Classics at St. John’s Community in Korogocho, as part of their ongoing efforts to support those affected by the recent floods.
During the handover, Ms. Susan Ng’ang’a - Administrative Officer at KEPSA Foundation, highlighted that the donation was made possible through the collaboration and support of Chandaria Foundation and other private sector partners. She emphasised that the food items aim to support communities and families most impacted by the floods at their centres in Korogocho, Mukuru Kwa Reuben and Rongai.
The donation was received by Mr. Alex Kimathi – Programme Coordinator, Mr. Peter Kuria - Social Worker and a few members on behalf of Ghetto Classics. While receiving the donation, Mr. Kimathi appreciated KEPSA Foundation’s kind gesture stating that it would go a long way in supporting the children and their families, most of whom were affected by the floods and depend on the institution for school fees, food and shelter.
Ghetto Classics is a community programme that involves over 500 children in Korogocho - one of Kenya’s biggest slums that is home to about 300,000 urban poor and over 1000 more children in 9 satellite areas around Nairobi and Mombasa, through the Orchestra for Schools Initiative.
