In commemoration of the International Day of Care and Support, KEPSA Foundation led by the Executive Director, Ms Gloria Ndekei participated in the inaugural Time-Use Survey dissemination forum on 31st October 2023 at a Nairobi hotel.
The forum was officiated by the Advisor on Women Rights Agency, Office of the President, Ms Harriet Chigai. It brought together stakeholders from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), the State Department for Labour and Social Protection, the Ministry of Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action, the Senate, and other Civil Society organizations with an aim of advancing conversations on the unpaid Domestic and Care work in the Country.
The recently launched inaugural Time-Use Survey by KNBS was adopted in Kenya to help in understanding the contribution of daily work to the economy with an aim of measuring paid and unpaid work to accelerate the achievement of gender equality and women’s empowerment in Kenya.
Care work and Support including the findings of the Time Use Survey aligns with the KEPSA Foundation Women Empowerment, Leadership, and Childcare priority area thus presenting a unique opportunity to champion and advance the care work agenda within the private sector. The Executive Director had an interaction with the minister and Senator Miraj Abdillahi, and agreed to hold further discussions on ways of leveraging partnerships together.
