In a pivotal move to enhance economic and entrepreneurial ties, the KEPSA CEO, Ms. Carole Kariuki on 13th August 2024 engaged Hon. Kadri Humal Ayal, the Hon. Consul for the Republic of Estonia, at KEPSA Offices. The Estonia Ambassador was accompanied by Ms. Makena Mathiu.
The primary focus of their meeting centred on potential partnerships for the upcoming trade visits scheduled for February and June 2025. These missions aim to fortify bilateral relations through sector-specific engagements, broaden business networks, and explore educational collaboration avenues. The first trade visit, set for February 2025, will delve into the realms of manufacturing, technology, and health; while the second visit, scheduled for June 2025, will concentrate on the education sector.
To ensure successful synergies and productive trade missions, the two organizations will align their activities, by for instance providing a matchmaking platform for businesses in corresponding sectors towards fostering meaningful connections. The meeting further proposed to synchronize the missions with the tourist seasons, allowing for a holistic approach that will support both the business and tourism sectors.
Beyond trade missions, the meeting also broached the topic of long-term youth partnerships, recognizing Estonia’s impressive per capita income driven by post-1991 startup businesses. Ms. Kariuki and Hon Ayal discussed potential initiatives to empower Kenyan youth, including training for the Kenyan youths in Estonia on startup creation and management. These trained youth would then return to Kenya, equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to establish their businesses or seek entrepreneurial opportunities locally.
Through these strategic partnerships, KEPSA and Estonia aim to cultivate a vibrant business ecosystem, drive economic growth, and create sustainable opportunities for both nations.
