KEPSA CEO Carole Kariuki hosted Embu Senator, Hon. Alexander Mundigi for a meeting on 26th September 2022 in her office to discuss how the private sector can partner with the Embu County government and enhance the benefits of devolution in the county.
The meeting was held following the 4th Senate induction meeting in Naivasha, where Ms. Kariuki spoke on the private sector's priorities and expectations.
The two also discussed on how their institutions can partner to offer support in dealing with the current drought menace in the country, with Embu being one of the most affected counties.
According to the National Drought Management Authority, in September the counties of Laikipia, Tana River, and Tharaka Nithi slid into alarm joining Isiolo, Mandera, Garissa, Turkana, Wajir, Samburu, and Marsabit that have equally been hard hit by drought in the past months. Another 10 counties including Embu, Garissa, Kitui, Makueni, Meru, Narok, Nyeri, Taita Taveta, Kwale, and Kilifi are in the Alert drought phase, with the remaining three counties of Baringo, West Pokot, and Lamu being in the Normal drought phase.
