KEPSA CEO Ms. Carole Kariuki today hosted the new Airtel Networks Kenya Limited Managing Director, Mr. Ashish Malhotra at the KEPSA offices. Mr. Malhotra was accompanied by Ms. Joy Nyaga, Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs, and Mr. Ganson Lewela, Head of Regulatory. The meeting focused on Airtel's operations, the role of digitization in government initiatives, and potential collaboration with KEPSA.
Key points of discussion included strategic areas of partnerships between KEPSA and Airtel and the critical role of digitization, which aligns with both KEPSA’s and the government's manifesto.
The Airtel team emphasized that enhancing digital infrastructure and services is essential for economic growth and development. This focus on digitization is particularly relevant in the context of the ongoing global digital transformation, which aims to improve access to information, streamline government services, and foster innovation and entrepreneurship among SMEs.
Ms. Kariuki acknowledged the importance of public-private partnerships, policy development, and sectoral growth strategies in improving the digital landscape in Kenya. Specifically, she emphasized KEPSA’s influence in policy dialogues, reinforcing the commitment to supporting Kenya's socio-economic development.
The two organizations’ emphasis on digitization aligns with broader goals of digital inclusion in Kenya and the region. It amplifies efforts to bridge the digital divide, ensuring that more Kenyans have access to affordable and reliable digital services. This can spur economic activities, improve access to education and healthcare and enhance overall quality of life.
