On 27th January 2022, KEPSA CEO Ms. Carole Kariuki met with new Infrastructure, Trade and Investment Lead in the Economic Affairs Office at the Embassy of the United States of America in Kenya, Mr. Ryan Koenig. The two leaders discussed areas of focus and collaboration for the year 2022.
Ms. Kariuki noted that KEPSA will be working on implementing private sector commitments made at the COP26 and accelerating its work on sustainability. She also mentioned KEPSA’s focus on supporting SMEs in training and mentorship, and access to finance through the soon to be launched KEPSA Business Revolving Fund and the support to at least 50 SMEs on AGOA in partnership with the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA).
On his part, Mr. Koenig indicated that dialogue on the Kenya-U.S. free trade agreements (FTA) is ongoing and that this remains a priority for the Embassy. He further indicated the Embassy have recently launched a small grants program for SMEs through USAID and established the small business centre in partnership with Strathmore University.
