On 27^th September 2022, KEPSA CEO Ms Carole Kariuki had a meeting with Japan Ambassador Okaniwa Ken at his residence, to discuss areas of collaboration between KEPSA and the Embassy of Japan in Kenya. 

Ms Kariuki highlighted the vast investment opportunities in Kenya in various sectors of the economy which are usually showcased in various trade forums and can be accessed through direct investments or diversification of their markets of existing products and services through partnerships and joint ventures. She apprised the Ambassador of Kenya competitive advantage in strategic geographic location which allows travel to any part of Africa within 5 hours and the Port infrastructure of Mombasa and Lamu that allow ease in export and import.

The Ambassador noted that there is an upcoming 60 years celebration of the Kenya-Japan partnership next year which looks at showcasing the achievements including investments. He also added that a plan is underway to have a direct flight from Nairobi to Tokyo.

The following areas were identified for collaboration:

1. Investment forums which will include B2B, matchmaking and learning visits
2. Value chain capacity development, technology transfer, linkages, etc
3. Circular economy especially waste management to enhance efficiency and productivity
4. Kenya and Japan 60 years collaboration celebrations especially private sector activities will showcasing past investments, current work, and future opportunities. 

Also, in the meeting was Mr. Victor Ogalo, KEPSA Deputy CEO; Uchikoshi Fumihiro, Second Secretary - Economic Affairs and Economic Cooperation Section in Embassy of Japan in Kenya; and Mr. Harrison Ngatia, KEPSA Head of Projects and SME Development.
