The Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) CEO Ms. Carole Kariuki, on 23rd June 2025, met Ms. Liane Ng, Regional Director (East Africa) at Enterprise Singapore, in a meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral business relations between Kenya and Singapore. Ms Ng was accompanied by Ms. Anne Nyambura, Senior Business Development Manager at Enterprise Singapore. The discussion focused on exploring collaboration opportunities in key growth sectors, including agribusiness, digital innovation, infrastructure, manufacturing, and clean energy, while also identifying avenues for knowledge exchange and enterprise development.
Enterprise Singapore is a government agency under the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore that supports enterprise development and facilitates the internationalization of Singaporean businesses. Their growing engagement in Africa signals a strong interest in establishing long-term commercial partnerships on the continent, with Kenya positioned as a key gateway to the East African region.
The meeting focused on exploring areas of mutual interest where the Kenyan and Singaporean private sectors can collaborate. Key sectors identified for potential partnership included agribusiness, digital innovation, manufacturing, clean energy, infrastructure, and logistics. KEPSA underscored the strength and diversity of Kenya’s private sector, and its potential to build strategic linkages with Asia-based companies for knowledge transfer, investment, and joint ventures.
One of the key outcomes of the engagement was the mutual interest in facilitating learning exchanges between the two markets. Enterprise Singapore expressed willingness to organize interactions between KEPSA members and established Singaporean enterprises and institutions. These learning visits would give Kenyan businesses an opportunity to understand Singapore’s approach to enterprise growth, innovation, policy frameworks, and global competitiveness. Such exchanges are expected to expose KEPSA members to successful models in areas such as SME development, public–private partnerships, export readiness, and value addition across various sectors.
The discussion also included a formal invitation extended to KEPSA to participate in the upcoming Africa–Singapore Business Forum (ASBF) scheduled to take place from 26th to 28th August 2025. While the forum offers a platform for business networking and deal-making, it was acknowledged as part of a broader engagement agenda between the two parties. KEPSA expressed appreciation for the invitation and welcomed the opportunity to connect its members with partners in the Singaporean and Asian business ecosystems.
Both KEPSA and Enterprise Singapore agreed to continue collaborating on programs and initiatives that will open up new opportunities for businesses from both countries. These may include co-hosted trade missions, sector-specific roundtables, and market access support programs for Kenyan companies interested in venturing into Southeast Asia. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with a shared commitment to building a strong, long-term relationship that can help Kenyan businesses grow regionally and globally through structured engagement and strategic partnerships.
This engagement reflects KEPSA’s broader vision of connecting its members with global markets and knowledge ecosystems to enhance competitiveness, innovation, and inclusive growth.
