On 22nd March 2022, KEPSA CEO Ms. Carole Kariuki also held a meeting with RT. Hon. Sir Hugo Swire KCMG – Deputy Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) and Mr. Abdul Q Hamza – Director of Business Development CWEIC in the U.K.
The Director General / CEO Ms. Samantha Cohen was appointed by the Prime Minister to his office, the new CEO will join in later in May and is the current Public Service Commission Chair in the government.
Sir Swire previously served as the Member of Parliament for East Devon from 2001 until 2019 and is a member of the Conservative Party. He has had several ministerial roles, most recently as the minister of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, a role he held until July 2016.
During the meeting the three focused on partnerships and collaborations between the two organizations with a view to growing Kenya UK trade and investments.
The meeting agreed on the following:
CWEIC is a commercial, not-for-profit membership organization with an official mandate from the Commonwealth Heads of Government to facilitate trade and investment throughout the 54 Commonwealth member nations. The role of CWEIC is to use the convening power and trusted network of the Commonwealth, which is led by Her Majesty The Queen, to drive trade and investment.
CWEIC’s network includes more than 100 business and government Strategic Partners (members) including Standard Chartered, Zenith Bank, Trade & Investment Queensland and the Government of the Maldives from 30 countries and territories.
