On 6th October 2022, KEPSA CEO, Ms Carole Kariuki engaged with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Regional Agricultural Counsellor, Mr Ryan Scott in a virtual meeting. The meeting discussed possible areas of collaboration between the two organisations, notably, in the upcoming Agribusiness Trade Mission.
Ms Kariuki apprised Mr Scott on the role of KEPSA and the different programs and projects that the organization is implementing. She noted the need for an agricultural-focused project that can enable value addition and link farmers to markets. She also pointed out that KEPSA has been keen to ensure that peace prevails for the economy to survive, especially during the general election. The KEPSA CEO further mentioned that KEPSA has been conducting counter-terrorism training for businesses, in partnership with other security agencies.
Mr Ryan expressed excitement about the role KEPSA is playing as the voice of the private sector. He indicated the possibility of partnerships between the two organizations while pointing out the upcoming 'Women in Power' event that will bring together women from different backgrounds with an aim to engage in powerful conversations.
USDA is the federal executive department that is responsible for developing and executing federal laws related to farming, forestry, rural economic development and food.
