KEPSA CEO Ms Carole Kariuki met with Mr David Beer, TradeMark Africa CEO and Mr Ahamed Farah, Kenya Country Director TradeMark Africa on 20th February 2023 at the Serena Hotel. The meeting discussed the successes and the opportunities the recently concluded project between the two organizations had on enhancing trade and investments in Kenya.
The engagement acknowledged improved trading standards, reduced Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs), and improved trade regulatory environment that led to reduced barriers to trade in the region. Mr Beer appreciated the role of KEPSA towards economic prosperity and regional integration.
On her part, Ms Kariuki highlighted KEPSA’s continued efforts towards the sustainable development agenda, especially in the circular economy. The circular economy was highlighted to be a model that will ensure businesses are efficient and opportunities for economic prosperity are identified especially at a time when the globe is grappling with limited resources from the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.
TradeMark Africa is focusing on trade facilitation activities and projects that are lined up towards addressing matters of climate change and circular economy; implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA); and enhancing the agricultural value chains. KEPSA committed to continue working with Trademark Africa towards unlocking the policy and legislative hurdles to promote the competitiveness of Kenyan businesses in the said areas of focus.
