On 13th August 2024, KEPSA CEO Ms. Carole Kariuki met with the Danish Ambassador, Amb. Stephan Schønemann at the Royal Danish Embassy. The meeting aimed at building on the existing cooperation between Kenya’s private sector and the Danish Government, particularly around three focus areas. These include climate change, trade advocacy and investments, and governance.
The Danish Government has over the years actively partnered with KEPSA under the Kenya Denmark Strategic Sector Co-operation (SSC), under which KEPSA has continued to undertake public-private policy dialogues, awareness creation and capacity-building programs in the above-mentioned areas. Under the Business Advocacy Fund (BAF), KEPSA has also previously partnered with the Danish Embassy and successfully advocated for the formation of a Micro and Small Enterprise Authority (MSEA) with a mandate to regulate the sector. The two organisations have also engaged in other areas of partnership including sustainability through the Global Green Growth Forum (3GF) which was established to facilitate and accelerate the global transition to a green economy; and Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals (P4G).
Furthermore, KEPSA and the Embassy have collaborated on various other projects in the education sector and jointly organized numerous business delegations in both Kenya and Denmark. This has largely contributed to key partnerships between Danish and Kenyan companies including on market-led value chain approaches.
