KEPSA and EnergyNet held a press conference on 2nd March 2023 to officially announce a partnership agreement towards the upcoming Africa Energy Forum (AEF) event that will to be held in Nairobi between 20th and 23rd June 2023. Themed ‘Africa for Africa’, the event will focus on several strategic areas including; Mining, Hydrogen, Connectivity and the Just Transition, all from the perspective of advancing projects, partnerships and business development. AEF would also be hosting the first Youth Energy Summit (YES!) Expo.
Present during the press conference were Mr Alex Wachira, Principal Secretary for Energy; Mr George Aluru, KEPSA Energy and Extractives Sector Board Chairperson; Mr Victor Ogalo, KEPSA Deputy CEO; Mr Simon Gosling, EnergyNet Managing Director and Ms Nadia Ahmed Abdalla, Member of the YES! Global Advisory Board.
For the past 24 years, the forum has earned a reputation as the most meaningful gathering of decision-makers in African energy to form partnerships, identify opportunities and move the energy industry forward. AEF is widely regarded as an important conference and exhibition for both public and private sector stakeholders from across the continent and around the world.
The choice of Nairobi to host the first AEF on the continent is a boost to the reputation of the Country and the East African region for being a hub for private investment in power. It is especially important that the event is hosted on the African Continent at a time when the debate on energy-related climate goals and the interplay with Africa’s Development goals and ambitions has taken centre stage. AEF in Nairobi will further allow more African voices to be heard and advance the agenda of affordable, reliable and sustainable energy in Africa.
