ITME Africa & M.E. 2023 kicked off on 30^th November 2023 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi. The three-day event is expected to serve as a gateway and one-stop solution for textile technology and engineering encompassing education, skill development, investment joint ventures and sourcing.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Dr Juma Mukhwana – Principal Secretary for Industrialization; H.E Rohit Vadhwana - Deputy High Commissioner of India to Kenya and Mr. Ketan Sanghvi- Chairman, India ITME Society. KEPSA was represented by the Chairperson Mr. Jaswinder Bedi.

The event play host to around 60 exhibitors from India will showcase efficient and high-class deliverable textile engineering and technology products providing value for money, comprehensive and modernizing options for manufacturing facilities.

The Principal Secretary challenged entrepreneurs to take advantage of the numerous opportunities in the industry while pointing out the historical connection between Kenya and India which is a great advantage for the two nations to promote joint venture and business cooperation for textile and machine manufacturers together. "The Kenyan entrepreneurship history is tied to the Indian Heritage. With this exhibition, we should aim to make Kenya the Textile hub for Africa," said Dr. Mukhwana.

On his part, Mr Sanghvi highlighted that the event is a journey of trade, business meets, and textile technology to showcase diversity across the textile engineering industry. Other than the three-day exhibition, the event shall also host multiple concurrent programmes including B2B Meetings, B2F Meetings, B2G Meetings, panel discussions and interactive sessions, covering technical and financial topics to enhance knowledge and skills.

The exhibition aims to provide a great platform to boost trade and investment between Kenya and India in the Textile and Textile Engineering sector while also presenting the latest technologies and machinery in that sector.

This will be the 2^nd edition of ITME Africa, with the first edition held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The attached link will provide an overview of how the 1^st edition occurred;
