My name is Martin Salano, and I am the founder of Super Moringa Supplies, based in Lotego Village, Sabatia Subcounty, Vihiga County. The concept of my business was first birthed in 2014 while I was in South Africa as a missionary. It initially started as a personal solution for our daughter, who was asthmatic, and evolved into a social enterprise to help the community we were serving.
I first learned about the Jiinue Growth Program through Strathmore Business School, which was running a program in Kisumu. Strathmore had partnered with USAID through SBDC (Small Business Development Centres). They introduced me to the Jiinue Growth Program, and I submitted my application online. The Jiinue team later came to Kisumu for the Investor Readiness Training, and after attending the session, they reached out for follow-up. Step by step, the team guided me through the entire process, which eventually led to my successful loan application. Recently, I received funding under the Jiinue Growth Program loan, which came at the perfect time to help me scale up production and move closer to completing my production unit.
In addition to the training and loan process, I also participated in the KEPSA benchmarking tour to Jumia Kenya Head Office, organized as part of the program. I traveled overnight from Vihiga to join the tour, where I visited Jumia's warehouse. Observing their seamless end-to-end process—from goods inbound and inventory management to order processing and outbound dispatch—was eye-opening. This immersive experience equipped me with the knowledge and confidence to list and manage my products online, enabling me to reach clients across the country.
Super Moringa Supplies is now a growing enterprise with four full-time employees. We process our own moringa, sourcing directly from farmers we have trained in Kisumu. Additionally, we have established a nursery in Vihiga with up to 500 seedlings, and we plan to increase production as we introduce more farmers to the project.
Our products are available through several outlets and distributors, including in Mbale, where one of our key distributors, Sarah, manages the market. Customers can place orders directly through my contact number, 0798599809, or visit our website at www.supermoringa.shop. We are also active on Facebook under the name Super Moringa Supplies.
For entrepreneurs looking to grow their businesses, I strongly encourage them to join the Jiinue Growth Program. Allow yourself to learn, trust the process, and take advantage of the opportunities it offers. This program has been instrumental in helping me expand and refine my business, and I believe it can do the same for many others.
