KEPSA as the Co-Chair of the Partnering for Green Growth and Global Goals (P4G) participated in a workshop on ‘Facilitating Public-Private Partnerships’ through P4G National Platforms in Copenhagen – Denmark. The workshop, which was held from 16th to 21st of May 2022, aimed at developing National Action Plans for Strengthening P4G National platforms and Partnerships during the second phase of P4G.
In her opening remarks, Ms Karin Poulsen – Denmark Ministry of Foreign Affairs lauded the workshop as an opportunity for giving momentum to P4G National platforms and the role of public-private partnerships in bringing together governments and the private sector in driving green growth and sustainable development.
Mr Finn Mortensen – CEO of State of Green shared on the role of State of Green in creating awareness and encouraging the Danish companies in investing and showcasing green solutions. The workshop will thus strengthen awareness of P4G in the respective countries and strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors across the globe.
Mr Ian De Cruz – Global Director of P4G, shared the journey of P4G since 2018 in establishing National Platforms, determining parameters of a good P4G partnership and the opportunity to translate from market takers to market givers. He said that P4G provides an opportunity to unlock countries’ potential, vision and strategies for adapting countries to climate change. Mr Cruz added that P4G presents an opportunity to create a new world where development and investment can transform our world into a low carbon development pathway. P4G is the place to incubate innovative green business models in line with sustainable development goals.
Mr Augustine Kenduiwo – Kenya National P4G Platform Focal Point at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry stated that the Government of Kenya collaborates very closely with the private sector in ensuring that the funded partnerships reflect the government’s priority areas in line with the sustainable development plans and the country’s big 4 agenda.
Ms Faith Ngige – The Kenya National Platform Private Sector Focal Point highlighted the role P4G has played in Kenya in aligning the green economy vision and strategies for government and private sector and for translating green growth from the boardroom to the marketplace. Kenya has catalysed partnerships that are driving the green transition and low carbon pathway through the platform.
The workshop brought together government and private sector participants from the P4G Global hub based in the USA and countries that host the P4G national platforms including Kenya, Colombia, Denmark, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Netherlands, Republic of Korea, South Africa, Vietnam and Mexico.
