On 13th April 2023, KEPSA Foundation Executive Director, Ms. Gloria Ndekei, and KEPSA Deputy CEO, Mr. Victor Ogalo met with the CEO of Jambo List Limited Companies, Ms. Mary Muturi to identify potential areas of collaboration in the promotion and facilitation of Kenyan products in the Diaspora markets.
Ms. Muturi highlighted that Jambo List Limited Companies is a registered business marketing international consultancy in the state of USA and Kenya, whose mission is to bring visibility and connect African-owned businesses with consumers worldwide. This is done by providing a platform where businesses can introduce themselves to consumers locally and globally.
Mr. Ogalo highlighted the work that KEPSA is doing in the Economic Diplomacy Sector Board including the various agreements entered by KEPSA and various global partners towards strengthening Global connectivity, that still remain unexploited. One such agreement is KEPSA and the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) memorandum of understanding that was anchored on supporting the growth of SMEs by increasing and expanding their market database.
Further, Ms. Ndekei emphasized that this partnership would unlock export markets for local products. This is in line with the KEPSA Foundation's focus on women's economic empowerment that seeks to intervene in the exploitation of initiatives such as the AGOA which was launched in 2000 as a preferential trade program to allow countries in Sub-Saharan Africa to export products to the United States tariff-free.
This culminated with an agreement to explore further interventions that would unlock the potential for the benefit of the KEPSA SMEs through conducting market intelligence which would require mapping out potential export market opportunities in the United States. In line with this, an initial expo will be held in September 2023, to promote exposure and provide knowledge on the business aspect in both countries. Both parties agreed to develop a working relationship with both governments in US and Kenya so as to ensure success in any objectives and initiatives taken.
