On 27th March 2025, The Kenya Private Sector Alliance, through the Ajira digital program, and the Digital Skills and Employment Advancement Program (DSEAP) took part in a Digital Work Opportunities workshop at the Uthiru Youth Polytechnic. The workshop, held in partnership with the Uthiru Residents Forum CBO, aims to introduce young people in Kiambu County to digital and digitally-enabled work opportunities through KEPSA.
The workshop featured industry experts, and partners in the Ajira Digital Program and DSEAP, designed to enhance job seekers’ readiness for the job market. Also, in attendance were job aggregators such as Kujia, Bingwa, and Rocket Jobs that work closely with the Ajira digital program with a goal of equipping young people with the necessary skills, insights, and networks to successfully transition into the workforce.
KEPSA, through the Kenya Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship Accelerator Program (KYEEAP), is committed to driving the digital transformation of small businesses, creating employment opportunities in the digital sector, supporting public sector digitalization, and equipping youth with market-relevant skills. Elijah King’utu, a Program Specialist within KEPSA’s Youth & Jobs Division, provided an overview of KEPSA’s initiatives and its role in promoting employment across the country. He highlighted various opportunities available through KEPSA’s programs, with a particular focus on the partnership between the Digital Skills and Employability Acceleration Program (DSEAP) and Microsoft. This collaboration aims to raise awareness and equip Kenyans with the skills needed to navigate the AI revolution. DSEAP offers a dedicated learning platform where young people can access AI and other digital skills courses. During the session, participants were guided through practical demonstrations on how to integrate AI into their daily activities to enhance productivity and efficiency.
The Ajira digital program enables young women and men in Kenya to access digital and digitally-enabled work opportunities. Judith Nyakwara, the Private Sector Engagement officer at KEPSA under the Ajira Digital Program, encouraged those present to leverage opportunities in the digital economy to access employment opportunities and also venture into entrepreneurship using the skills learnt. The Program aims to provide an end-to-end solution for young people to work and earn online and this forms part of the initiatives to reach young people in the country.
Other speakers present during the event include Benard Nyachieo, the Founder of Kujia, Anthony Munyi, the Co-Founder & CEO, RocketJobs, Erick Ya’kov, the Technical Product Manager at Bingwa, and Anthony Macharia, the Youth Representative Uthiru Residents Forum CBO.
