BREAKFAST MEETING BETWEEN THE ENVIRONMENT & PLANNING (EP) DIVISION WORKING GROUP AND ENVIRONMENTAL SECTOR STAKEHOLDERS

KEPSA participated in the Breakfast Roundtable on Building Effective Partnerships for the Realization of Environmental Justice in Kenya at Swiss Lenana Mount Hotel, Ralph Bunche Rd, Nairobi on the 15th of February, 2024. The focus of the roundtable was to foster collaboration and partnerships in the implementation of the Environment and Planning (EP) Division Working Group. The roundtable served as an introduction to the EP division and its mandate while exploring areas of mutual concern and potential partnership with stakeholders.
The roundtable was chaired by Hon. Lady Justice Anne Omollo, MBS, Office of the Presiding Judge of the Environment and Planning Division of the Environment and Land Court of Kenya, who led the discussion on the challenges and opportunities that come with dealing with environmental disputes through the Courts.
The key issues include:
- Approvals;
- Encroachment of Protected Areas,
- Waste Disposal,
- Climate Change and Equitable Access to Information/to the Courts Services.
The Environment and Planning Division Working Group serves as a valuable conduit for private sector stakeholders in Kenya, providing a platform for collaboration, regulatory adherence, strategic planning, and access to resources that contribute to a more sustainable and responsible business environment.
