Today, Dr. Jackson Koimbori, the Senior Circular Economy and Climate Change Coordinator represented The Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), in a pivotal Project Management team meeting funded by The Danish Embassy and The Danish Environmental Protection Agency (DEPA). In attendance, we had key stakeholders including Mr. Obadiah Mungai, Chief Environmental Economist from NEMA, representatives from The Kenya Alliance of Resident Associations (KARA), and KAM. Together, they convened to explore avenues of collaboration aimed at advancing sustainable practices in Kenya's private sector.
One pivotal aspect of the partnership centered on KEPSA's role in spearheading the sensitization of the private sector members on the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), The Sustainable Waste Management Act 2022, and the Environmental Management and Coordination Act (EMCA), 1999. Through these initiatives, the meeting aimed to foster a deeper understanding of regulatory frameworks and promote collective action toward achieving environmental sustainability goals. Driven by a shared commitment to responsible stewardship, this collaborative effort underscores the importance of partnerships in driving positive change for both businesses and the environment.
