On 19th September 2024, the Ajira Digital Program, in collaboration with JobTech Alliance, hosted the second session of its Platform Accelerator Program, an initiative designed to boost the capacity of job-provisioning platforms in Kenya. This program aims to address the pressing challenges faced by digital platforms, particularly in their early and growth stages, through expert advisory support, access to grants, and an advanced, industry-focused curriculum.
The recent session centred on the JobTech taxonomy, a framework that categorizes platforms into key areas such as offline work, digitally delivered work, tech-enabled skilling, worker tools, and services for micro-enterprises. By familiarizing participants with these categories, the program empowers them to align their platforms with current industry needs, driving both growth and adaptability.
As digital platforms expand, they often encounter obstacles such as increased operational complexity, financial management difficulties due to rapid scaling, stiff competition, and challenges in attracting and retaining clients. These issues can destabilize platforms if not addressed effectively. Recognizing this, Ajira Digital and JobTech Alliance launched the Platform Accelerator Program to provide a tailored response.
The program offers a comprehensive approach to overcoming these challenges, delivering a curriculum based on cutting-edge industry insights, fostering knowledge exchange, and facilitating opportunities for participants to pitch to venture capitalists for grants. The end goal is to enhance platform resilience, foster sustainable growth, and create more job opportunities in Kenya.
By providing targeted resources, the Platform Accelerator Program helps job-provisioning platforms navigate operational complexities, improve their financial management, and build stronger client bases. In turn, this stability enables platforms to thrive in a highly competitive environment, contributing to Kenya’s growing Jobtech ecosystem.
The next session of the Platform Accelerator Program is scheduled for 2nd October 2024, continuing the mission to foster innovation, job creation, and long-term sustainability for platforms and the digital workforce they support.
