Last week Monday through Thursday, KEPSA, represented by Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) Specialist Mr. Patrick Maingi participated in a transport stakeholders workshop convened by the State Department for East African Community at the Mombasa Continental Resort.
The four-day event focused on the development of a sustainable framework for the transport sector that will enhance the efficiency of transportation of cargo across borders. The workshop brought together both government and private sector players.
The engagement of multi-stakeholder teams with representation from government and private sector was first convened on the on-set of the COVID-19 pandemic to tackle the challenges that led to the major snarl-ups in the movement of cargo across the East African Community region.
The meeting was presided over by Dr. Kevit Desai – Principal Secretary, State Department for East African Community and Mr. Newton Wang’oo – Chair, Kenya Transport Association (KTA) and who is also the Vice-Chair of KEPSA Transport Sector Board.
