Macharia is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers and Caterers (KAHC). KAHC is the principal umbrella association in the hospitality industry in Kenya and brings together 220 hotels, restaurants and specialty caterers. The main activities include advocacy, industrial relations, marketing, training, representation and information exchange. During his tenure at KAHC, the organization has evolved into a fully functional advocate for a solid business environment for investors who have collective investments running into hundreds of billions in Kenya Shillings. He is currently the National Vice President of the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) and sits on the boards of Boma International Hospitality College (BIHC), National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), the East African Tourism Platform and the National Tourism Crisis and Resilience Committee. He previously served on the boards of Kenya Utalii College, the Tourism Regulatory Authority, Athi Water Services Board, Nairobi Water Company, Kenya Tourism Board and the Hotels and Restaurant Authority among others.
Macharia is renowned for his strong voice in hotel operations management, development and implementation of strategy, and enhancing revenue-generating potential of hotel properties.
