Eng. Mwangi is the Chief Executive Officer of Kurrent Technologies Ltd a Consultancy firm based in Nairobi, Kenya that serves East and Central Africa. He is a board member at FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) and is also a Board member at the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), the Apex voice of the Private Sector in Kenya. He is a Registered Consulting Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya with over thirty-six (37) years of experience in Renewable Energy, Power Generation, and Oil & Gas sectors. He is a Fellow with the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).  He is the Immediate past Chairman and member of Executive Committee of FIDIC – AFRICA, Director at the Petroleum Institute of East Africa (PIEA), Member of the East Africa Branch Council of the International Project Finance Association (IPFA) and is a Member of the Energy Institute (UK). He is a past Chairman of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Kenya.

In March 2021, he was appointed by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta as a Member of the Presidential Task Force on the Review of Power Purchase Agreements for a 6-month period that ended in September 2021. He was subsequently appointed to The Steering Committee on the Implementation of the recommendations of the Report by the Presidential Taskforce on Review of Power Purchase Agreements.

Eng. Mwangi’s key Achievements include Presidential Award of Elder of Order of Burning Spear (EBS) in 2020 by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya and as well as The Consultant of the Year award for 2021 by the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).

Eng. Mwangi has dedicated a lot of time and effort in advocacy in the Engineering Profession, Renewable Energy. Power Generation and Oil & Gas sectors, business, Integrity, local content, and Africa’s infrastructure development.

Eng. Mwangi has presented many papers and participated in many panels in local and international forums/conferences/Webinars on matters relating to Energy and Petroleum sectors, Engineering Profession, Integrity, and Ethics as well as other topics on Emerging Issues which include Diversity and Inclusion.
