UKRAINIAN AMBASSADOR MEETS KEPSA CEO FOR A FOLLOW-UP MEETING

On the 17th of March, KEPSA CEO Ms. Carole Kariuki met with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Pravednyk Andrii Ivanovych at KEPSA offices. This was a follow-up meeting of a similar engagement that was held last month. The meeting discussed the business relationship between the two countries and focused on the following:
- Postponement of the investment forum that was scheduled for May this year: Both sides agreed to reschedule the forum for later in the year.
- The Ambassador reassured the business community that despite the current war between Ukraine and Russia, which will hopefully be over soon, Ukraine will work to ensure the trade with Kenya will resume fully by August/September. Ukraine is known for its large exports in maize, wheat, petroleum products and barley. The Ambassador noted that the Ukrainian Government is therefore tirelessly working to avoid losing its export capability to Africa and the World with a promise of ensuring that the crop yields brought to the market remain of high quality.
- The Ambassador is willing to have a meeting with KEPSA members who are affected by the interference of trade and would like to have a more in-depth conversation.
The KEPSA CEO assured the Ambassador that the business community and the country continue to hope and pray for an amicable solution sooner than later to avert any more loss of lives and livelihoods as well as the effects this has on global trade.
