OPPORTUNITIES FOR INTEGRATION OF PRIVATE SECTOR IN THE AFRICAN CLIMATE SUMMIT PLANNING

On July 13, 2023, KEPSA CEO, Ms Carole Kariuki engaged with the Africa Climate Summit (ACS), CEO Mr Joseph Ng’ang’a on Partnership and collaboration for the upcoming Africa Climate Summit co-hosted by Kenya scheduled to take place on 4th to 8th September, 2023 in Nairobi.
In the meeting it was agreed that private sector plays a critical role in implementation and financing of climate actions. It is therefore important that the private sector participation is integrated in the summit in order to secure tangible outcomes and follow up on consolidation of opportunities. Kenya seeks to define a strong African position during the summit. It was resolved that KEPSA will play a coordination role for the private sector participation at the summit working closely with the ACS secretariat.
The Africa Climate Summit is designed to catalyse actions and solutions for climate change in Africa by providing a platform to deliberate the nexus between climate change, Africa’s development reality and the need to push for increased investment in climate action.
The Summit will bring together Africa Heads of State, Ministers, Global leaders, business leaders, private sector, development partners, civil society, special interest groups among others.
