Dr Vimal Shah, the chairperson of the Mkenya Daima Initiative has been honoured with the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) honorary award.
Given under the 'Most outstanding personalities and high achievers of African descent from around the world' category, the award was conferred during the Recognition Weekend 2022 for Dr. shah's positive contribution to humanity.
The awarding ceremony was held on 2nd October 2022 in New York, U.S.A, following the opening of the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). This year's theme was 'Celebrating Five Years Of Telling Global Black Stories of Excellence, Authenticity and Passion'.
According to MIPAD, the recognition came at a time of unprecedented truth-telling as the African diaspora demanded to be heard amidst far-ranging political and social change.
In support of the International Decade for People of African Descent, proclaimed by United Nation's General Assembly resolution 68/237 and to be observed from 2015 to 2024, MIPAD identifies high achievers of African descent in public and private sectors from all around the world as a progressive network of relevant actors to join together in the spirit of recognition, justice and development of Africa, it's people on the continent and across it's Diaspora.
Dr Shah was recognised under the United Nations, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for development, Economic growth, Industrialization and fostering innovation.
The Mkenya Daima Chair was cited for his role in encouraging and promoting peace before, during and after the August 2022 general elections by spreading peace through the Mkenya Daima Initiative, a non-partisan multi-stakeholder platform founded under the hospice of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) to inspire peaceful elections.
The Mkenya Daima Initiative team has congratulated Dr Shah and at the same time excited to see the Mkenya Daima message spreading and influencing many people not only in Kenya but also around the world.
Mkenya Daima hopes that all Kenyans will take responsibility (Wajibu Wetu) for the change they want to see and that many more private sector organisations will spearhead such initiatives for a prosperous nation.
