On 7th April 2022, KEPSA CEO Ms. Carole Kariuki joined other dignitaries in bidding farewell to the outgoing Trademark East Africa (TMEA) CEO Mr. Frank Matsaert after his exemplary 10-year tenure at the organisation.
The event was hosted by the Danish Embassy and was attended by among others H.E Ole Thonke – Denmark Ambassador to Kenya and Dr. Kevit Desai – Principal Secretary in the State Department of EAC.
KEPSA has for the last 12 years worked with TMEA in implementing various projects. The collaboration between KEPSA and TMEA saw the training of over 2,000 SMEs on skills and nuances of e-commerce and support to onboard multichannel online market places through the KEPSA E-commerce Booster Program. Over and above the support KEPSA receives in Public-Private Dialogue, KEPSA and TMEA also implemented the Safe Trade program, which targeted businesses, especially SMEs, to ensure business continuity during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. This was through providing training and PPEs to cross-border small traders.
TMEA is an aid-for-trade organisation that was established with the aim of growing prosperity in East Africa through increased trade. TMEA operates on a not-for-profit basis and is funded by the development agencies of the following countries: Belgium, Canada, Denmark, European Union, Finland, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, United Kingdom and United States of America.
