On 24th February 2025, KEPSA hosted a delegation from the County Government of Kitui, led by Ms Rose Mutuku, County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Trade, Industry, MSMEs, Innovation and Cooperatives. The discussions focused on strategic partnerships to improve the business environment in Kitui County and boost its competitiveness to attract investments.
The CECM was accompanied by Mr. Phidelis Mwaniki, Director for Trade, Investments, and Industry, and Ms. Esther Mukiti, Trade Officer. The delegation engaged with KEPSA’s Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) Manager, Ms. Doris Olutende, and PPD Officer in charge of the Trade Sector Board, Mr. Emmanuel Otieno.
The discussions centred on strategic partnerships to enhance Kitui County’s business environment and boost its competitiveness to attract investments. Ms. Mutuku emphasised the county’s commitment to supporting local investors as a crucial step toward drawing international investments. It was evident that Kitui County offers vast investment opportunities across key sectors, including Agriculture, Trade, Mining, and Tourism. She also highlighted the upcoming Kitui Local Investments Conference, scheduled for 13th – 14th March 2025, which aims to raise awareness of the county’s immense investment potential.
Having identified KEPSA as a strategic partner, the CECM affirmed the county’s intent to collaborate. As a result, KEPSA and the County Government of Kitui agreed to explore a long-term partnership focusing on the following key areas:
