On 6th May 2024, Ms. Carole Kariuki, CEO of Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), hosted the Barbados Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. William A. McDonald, at the KEPSA offices, which are opposite the Embassy of Barbados at Two Rivers. They discussed trade and investment opportunities between the two countries, expected to result in an MoU to offer trade facilitation to KEPSA members who express interest in doing business with Barbados. Part of the discussion included the Embassy regularly introducing business opportunities to KEPSA Members from Barbados companies and ensuring that they would have regular meetings with business leaders from Barbados visiting Kenya.
Committing to building strong relationships between the two countries, the Ambassador and Ms. Kariuki agreed to focus on two sub-sectors as a starting point for the engagements between KEPSA and Barbados. These include propelling financial technology (fintech) innovation by establishing groundbreaking opportunities for businesses and consumers and exchanging best practices to develop a sustainable tourism industry.
Virtual meetings with business sector leaders from Barbados and KEPSA will be organised to delve into various avenues for tapping into their unique strengths and assets to reap mutual benefits. Through collaborative efforts, a partnership between KEPSA and Barbados will invigorate local economies, attract more international tourists, and help safeguard cultural and natural heritage sites.
