On 19th July, 2023, KEPSA CEO, Ms Carole Kariuki met with Hon. Edwin Sifuna, the Nairobi County Senator, and his team. The primary objective of the meeting was to explore potential areas of collaboration to enhance the Socio-economic environment of Nairobi County and foster a competitive Business environment through pro-business legislative proposals.
During the discussion, Ms. Kariuki emphasized the importance of addressing short-term and long-term disaster risk management proposals. She highlighted the ongoing initiatives KEPSA foundation undertook, encompassing drought response efforts and providing essential food supplies to affected communities.
Additionally, the meeting focused on key areas such as the advancement of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), exploring opportunities related to climate change, and implementing capacity-building initiatives for the youth, including internship and job opportunities. It was agreed that the Nairobi Senate Office and KEPSA would collaborate by leveraging aligned ongoing initiatives in the aforementioned areas.
Hon. Sifuna expressed his commitment to working closely with KEPSA in proposing pro-business legislative measures in the Senate. He further pledged to collaborate on critical bills for the business environment, including the County Uniform License Bill 2023, the County Government Revenue Raising Process Bill 2023, and legislation towards a unified business license. This partnership on the legislative front is crucial for fostering dialogue and ensuring a win-win approach wherein all parties' concerns are duly addressed.
This transparency aims to foster a common understanding among the public regarding the conduct of political demonstrations, thereby facilitating a conducive business environment. In addition, KEPSA has expressed its commitment to actively mediate and facilitate the articulation and resolution of issues that are contributing to the political demonstrations, ensuring that all concerned parties are duly engaged and their concerns adequately addressed.
