On 8th August 2023, KEPSA CEO Ms Carole Kariuki met with a team from Konza Technopolis led by Ms Josephine Ndambuki - Chief Manager, Business Development & Innovation, Ms Agatha Kakui - Manager, Investor Facilitation & One Stop Shop, Mr Kigen- Sales Officer and Mr Jackson Tenik - Sales Officer at the KEPSA offices.
The agenda of the meeting was for Konza to apprise KEPSA on the progress made since the last engagement.
In her remarks, Ms Agatha Kakui from Konza appreciated KEPSA's continued partnership in creating an enabling environment that promotes business development in Kenya. She informed the meeting that 70% of the allocated Land had been set aside for Private Sector investment, with 30% for the international community.
In her closing remarks, Ms Kakui requested support from Private Sector in the following ways; Advanced engagements in KEPSA activities, BPO investor referrals, and collaboration with the Private Sector on the Jitume programme, which targets TVETS by equipping them with digital tools like laptops and internet for online jobs uptake.
Ms Kariuki appreciated the progress made by Konza and the various initiatives taken to ensure Private Sector plays a vital role in business development. She went ahead to propose the following areas of collaboration that will be beneficial to both KEPSA and Konza. They are currently; organising a forum where members are appraised on the progress and investment opportunities, including a site visit, economic and trade missions where Konza will be accorded opportunities to make presentations and identify opportunities through the various legislations.
In conclusion, the meeting agreed to hold quarterly meetings to review progress.
